We love the location of The Chalet - it's why we choose to live here, and have done so for over 30 years. The Chalet is in its own independent part of our large, mature garden and has complete privacy from us and everyone else (usually, we don't even meet). It is surrounded by fields with wonderful views of North Devon countryside. We don't like to advertise The Chalet as having sea-views, but you do have glimpses of the sea from the top of The Chalet garden, as well as wonderful vistas up and down Croyde valley.

We have focussed on making The Chalet eco-friendly with an emphasis on it being a relaxing space that allows you to be close to nature. In fact we're award winning for our efforts to create wildlife habitat and an eco-friendly space.

Access is uphill from the village, up a paved (but narrow and unlit) farm track. It is only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village and 20 minutes walk from Croyde beach. We are lucky to have a network of stunning footpaths, quite literally on our doorstep, including outstanding paths to nearby Saunton Beach.

Set in a beautiful valley behind the beach and dunes, Croyde village is a fun and interesting place to explore. It has a unique old-world charm with picture-postcard cottages, alongside a selection of contemporary, independent eating & drinking options, including The Thatch pub and restaurant, The Blue Groove, New Coast Kitchen, Billy Budds pub, The Hub, Hobb's Bistro, The Manor House Inn, Cafe Croyde Bay (for coffee/cake/dinner with the best view), May Tea Rooms (for a wonderful Devon Cream Tea), and Sandleigh National Trust tearooms at Baggy Point, not forgetting a variety of pop-up food vendors. A few miles inland, in our sister village Georgeham, are The Kings Arms and The Rock. There are regular local craft markets throughout the summer.

Croyde is a renowned surfing destination and a wonderful venue for beginners and experts alike. As such, it has numerous surf-rental and lesson opportunities.

Saunton Sands, Putsborough and Woolacombe beaches are all an easy drive away (or walking distance if you're feeling energetic!). We also recommend checking out Crow Point and Lee Bay (about 15 and 20 minutes drive) for something a little different, as well as Braunton Burrows, a UNESCO world heritage site (10 mins)

Exmoor National Park is one of our favourite places and only 40 minutes away.

We are 10 minutes drive from Braunton and 25 minutes from Barnstaple.
